Ginger Beer with Fresh Ginger Root
Ingredients
  • 250grams fresh ginger root(9oz)
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 1/4cups white sugar
  • 5 cloves(whole)
  • 2ml cream of tartar
  • 2litres boiling water
  • 3 1/2teaspoons instant yeast
Instructions
  1. Peel and slice ginger.
  2. Grate lemon skins and extract juice.
  3. Add sugar and zest to ginger.
  4. Crush ginger into mixture.
  5. Add boiling water and stir until sugar melts.
  6. Add cream of tartar and cloves.
  7. Allow to cool.
  8. Sprinkle yeast on the top and stir in lemon juice.
  9. Cover with a cloth and leave until bubbles form on surface (overnight).
  10. Strain, bottle and refrigerate.
