Shea Butteror Cocoa Butter (or a mixture of the two)
essential oil(optional)
Instructions
Weigh equal quantities of beeswax, Coconut Oil and whichever butter you are using. Grate the beeswax or break it up into smaller pieces or use beeswax pellets.
Melt in a double boiler or in a glass dish over boiling water, stirring regularly until well combined.
If you are adding essential oils, let the mixture cool a bit before adding roughly 7-10 drops for every cup of the mixture. Stir to mix.
Carefully pour the mixture into moulds. Soap moulds work well, especially the silicone ones, as do silicone cup-cake moulds or muffin tins. Alternatively, empty stick deodorant containers make a handy substitute.
Pop the bars out of the moulds when set.
Recipe Notes
Voilà, your very own artisanal lotion bars are ready for use. If you are giving them away as gifts, decorate with hand written labels threaded with a pretty ribbon.
