Oil pouring

A while back I wrote about the benefits of OCM – the Oil Cleansing Method for the uninitiated. For those who don’t know what it is or who need a quick reminder, this entails cleaning your face with oil.

So instructions and information are all very well but what about real life confirmation? I tried it and I liked it – a lot! In case you are interested, I used Baobab Oil and Castor Oil.

Every winter it is the same story with my face. No matter what I do to it, I feel like a snake that needs to shed its skin. Over the years I have tried various solutions like face masks, exfoliators and different oils (of course) and whilst these definitely help, they don’t seem to solve the problem for long. And then I did the oil cleansing bit and ta da – success at last.

The amazing thing is I did it just once and a few days later realised that my skin felt pretty darn good – no dryness, tightness, flaking or discomfort. Nothing but dewy soft. It even felt like it had a waxy, protective layer on it when I splashed water on my face in the bath. What is even more remarkable is that this winter has been ridiculously cold, wet and windy which is my sure fire recipe for miserable skin.

I think the trick is to really take your time with the massage part. It is quite comforting to just sit there and gently but thoroughly rub oil all over your face and neck, meditating on the fact that every trace of grime is being sucked out of your pores. OCM is deep cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising all at the same time.

So what do you think?
