Can’t get to sleep or have interrupted sleep? Looking for something to replace those awful sleeping pills? Try these three natural bed time cures and see if they work for you. At the very least, they can’t hurt.
Rub a couple of drops or more of Castor Oil on each of your eyelids as you prepare for bed. Yes, Castor Oil – it is amazingly comforting and relaxing and many people swear by it to help them get to sleep. It not only induces sleep really fast but helps you to sleep deeper and longer, with less restlessness. Just make sure to use the cold pressed, hexane-free variety.
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender Oil is another favourite sleep aid that is fabulous for insomnia and anxiety. Research has found that the scent of lavender can improve sleep quality by increasing slow-wave sleep. This is when your brain waves, respiration and heartbeat are at their minimum, sleep is very deep and the body is resting and repairing. You can sprinkle a few drops of Lavender essential oil on your pillow or put some in a diffuser. Alternatively, place two to three drops in the palm of your hand, rub both palms together and cup your hands over your nose. Breathe deeply and slowly. Also, rub into wrists and onto the soles of the feet.
Last, but not least, if snoring gives you a bad night, try sipping or sniffing a bit of Olive Oil before bed time. If you are going to sip, a teaspoon should do it. Sniffing involves a few drops into each nostril. The oil moistens the respiratory passages and the throat, reducing the vibrations, ensuring you get a uninterrupted night’s sleep.
