rosemary oil

So many Marvel Oils, so little time!

If you want stronger, shinier hair and a healthier scalp, Rosemary essential oil is one of the best things you can use.

The rosemary plant has been used as far back as ancient Egyptian and Roman times for a wide variety of health benefits but it seems to have a special place in hair care. The essential oil can feed the skin on the scalp which helps to remove dry, flaky skin and dandruff. It also nourishes hair follicles by increasing blood circulation – resulting in thicker healthier hair that grows faster.

If your hair is thinning or you are starting to go bald, give rosemary oil a try.

How to use Rosemary Oil for hair

Hot oil treatment

In a small glass bowl, mix

  • 3 tablespoons of extra virgin Olive Oil
  • 4-5 drops of rosemary essential oil

Place bowl in hot water to gently warm the mixture. Massage the warm oil into your scalp, and then wrap your head in a towel. Leave in overnight if possible or for at least 30 minutes. Wash out.

Rosemary Hair Rinse

  • 750 ml (3 cups) pure water
  • 6 drops Rosemary essential oil
  • 6 drops patchouli essential oil
  • ½ – 1 tsp. Borax
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (unpasteurised with the ‘mother’ in it)

Mix all the ingredients together, decant into a spritzer bottle and spray onto freshly washed hair once or twice a week. Keep the bottle in the fridge between washes. And it will keep for 10 -14 days.

Don’t get all hot and sweaty about including borax in the recipe. Despite what you may have heard or read, borax is antimicrobial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying. It is no more toxic than ordinary table salt. It is also ridiculously cheap and helps to calm and flatten frizzy hair.
